Dr. Ian Bekker is our new IHealth Long Term Care Physician Informatics Lead. He has been working as a physician with Island Health since 2012. Currently, he cares for 50 patients between Glengarry and the Summit and works as a clinical consultant in Outpatient Geriatrics. While working at Island Health, he has taken on a number of physician leadership positions including: Geography 4 Medical Lead for Long Term Care, Co-Chair of the Health Information Standards Standing Committee, Co-Chair of the Provincial Forms Committee, Advisor for the PHSA Clinical Data Exchange Interoperability Project and eForms project and Member of the Provincial Health Information Exchange Working Group
Dr. Bekker has been working with IHealth as a Physician Informaticist in various community projects for five years. Most recently, as the Long Term Care physician he supported the successful Cerner activation at the Summit (Clinical Documentation and CPOE).
We are excited to have Dr. Bekker continue this important work in this new role, working closely with our Clinical Informatics, Provider Education and Experience, and Cerner Operations teams.
