Michael Gartner received his BSN from BCIT in 2011. He began his nursing career in the Cardiac ICU at Vancouver General Hospital before completing his NP Masters at the University of British Columbia in 2016.
Michael worked in Vancouver's Inner City with an interdisciplinary team focusing on primary care within the contexts of mental health and substance use. In 2023, Michael had the privilege to relocate to Victoria and initially worked in primary care with an emphasis on Lifestyle Medicine before becoming the Clinical Practice Lead with Island Health. Michael has a strong passion for teaching and mentorship and holds an Adjunct Professor role at UBC. He also teaches at the University of Victoria in the nursing and NP programs and is currently pursuing PhD studies through UBC.
Michael is a father of two and husband to a fellow NP. In his spare time, he likes to participate in triathlons, work on personal growth, and indulge in cold water ocean dips.
