Cortes is a beautiful remote Northern Gulf Island, two ferries away from Campbell River. The island has a vibrant community of approximately 1000 permanent residents, with many more seasonal residents. The Klahoose First Nations are based in Squirrel Cove, and there is a public school for primary to Grade 8. There are plenty of nature and recreation opportunities with lovely hiking trails, beaches, lakes and protected forests. Home to Hollyhock retreat centre, as well as the Gorge Marina, we get a lot of visitors coming from near and far.
The Cortes clinic is operated by the Cortes Community Health Association in a lovely, modern clinic space with 2 clinic rooms, a nurses room, a remote pharmacy and a treatment space (for emergency use and minor procedures) with 2 beds.
