Urgent Shift Opportunities

Island Health and your colleagues are requesting your support with upcoming emergency department, inpatient care, and general internal medicine shift coverage across Vancouver Island sites.

Urgent/Critical Emergency Shifts

The following shifts, if left unfilled, will result in site closure or diversion.

West Coast General Hospital - January 18  (2200-0800); 15 (1500-2200); 24 (1500-2200)

  • Time spent waiting for the ferry can be included in claim for the travel time honorarium as noted below.

    • Day Shift Weekday $3645
    • Day Shift Weekend $3915
    • Night Shift $4131
  • Please be advised that the Rural Emergency Enhancement Fund (REEF) and the Medical On-Call Availability Program (MOCAP) are administered by the local physician group.

  • Paid mileage from your location to the site at $0.72 km
  • Meal allowance (while traveling)
