Hillside Medical Clinic is a group practice of 5 full-service (clinic + hospital) GPs looking to add 1 additional GP to our group. We each have our own patient panel but share the load for weekend/holiday coverage. Most of us do other specialized work within the community as well (obstetrics, ED, LTC, ski doc..etc). Hillside is a well-established and highly respected clinic with a dedicated patient population and good working relationships with colleagues and allied health. Due to recent retirements at Hillside, there are a significant number of patients who would like to stay with the clinic and are awaiting a new physician to arrive. We anticipate that this would make for an easy build of your own panel.
Our community just got a new PCN and therefore PCN contracts and resources are available.
Additional local opportunities outside of the clinic (not-mandatory): ED shifts, LTC, oncology, obstetrics, addictions or palliative consults.
Hillside is a true team clinic. All of our business/financial decisions are shared amongst the group and transparent to all. This makes for a very efficient system and the opportunity for control over your own costs. We are excited to innovate in order to best suit the needs of our patients, staff and physicians.
Hillside Clinic is located directly across the road from the hospital, making it quite efficient to do inpatient rounds and always having a free parking space!
For hospital coverage, we all agree to cover each other for 1 week out of every 5-6 (depending on number of docs). Most weeks, this simply means you cover the physicians who want to sign out on the weekend, but on some occasions when a physician is simply gone for a single/few days and can’t arrange a locum, you may also cover for those patients during the week. Generally, we find that, if you plan in advance, most of us are pretty able to switch so that you can arrange holiday time when you need to.
We’d love to have you join us!

Full-time, part-time and locum placements available.

Community Information
Campbell River is a true Islanders’ paradise, where you can ski Mount Washington in the morning and kayak on the ocean in the afternoon; it is home to old growth forests, mild temperatures and world class mountain biking, hiking, fishing and more. We are a growing city of around 40,000 people that still has the small town feeling with the city amenities. Physicians live and work here to take advantage of the work-life balance such an environment offers.
Campbell River offers a unique opportunity for full spectrum family practice in a setting with significant specialist support (there are less than 6 hospitals like ours in the province). Campbell River is home to approximately 30 family physicians and a very supportive group of specialists (6 general internists, 5 general surgeons, 3 plastic surgeons, 5 orthopedic surgeons, 4 urologists (in Comox) and 3 OB/GYNEs). The community has a fantastic cohort of emergency room physicians (combo of CCFP and FRCP trained) who are gracious enough to do admission orders, making inpatient care very efficient. Further, we have a brand new hospital (built 2018) overlooking the ocean.
