Recognize World Sepsis Day on September 13 with the Sepsis Photo Challenge

Posted on: September 8, 2022

September 13th marks World Sepsis Day. 30,000 Canadians are hospitalized each year because of sepsis. More than 30% will die. At Island Health this amounts to over 1,000 patients being admitted annually with sepsis.

The Sepsis Quality Improvement Initiative led the development of new tools to support the recognition and management of sepsis to align with the Provincial BC Sepsis Network guidelines and Surviving Sepsis Campaign.

In recognition of Sepsis Awareness Month, we are launching two challenges to help spread awareness Island Wide!

For our first challenge, we invite you to Support Sepsis Awareness on World Sepsis Day by joining the SEPSIS Photo Challenge in three easy steps!

Step 1: Download and print your favourite photo board inspired by the Global Sepsis Alliance or create your own!

Step 2: Snap a picture of you and your colleagues - Get creative! We'll share the photos later in the month. #WorldSepsisDay #SepsisPrevention.

Step 3: Email your photo to TheWeekly@islandhealth.ca with photo details. Remember to include 'Sepsis Photo Challenge' in the subject line.
