June is National Indigenous History Month - an opportunity to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples locally and across Canada.
- Find a wealth of resources about origins, traditional ways, forced population movements, residential schools, reconciliation and so much more at the Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada website.
- The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund is pleased to present a series of four events in celebration of the diversity of Indigenous Peoples across Canada.
- The Government of Canada has links to excellent resources about Indigenous history at their website.
What other interests do you have around Canada's First (Indgenous) Peoples?
Do you know whose ancestral territory you were born on, grew up on, or currenly reside?
June is a great month to ask these questions, learn about Indigenous history - and then celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21st. Watch the Weekly for more information about local events and happenings on June 21st.
